The room still knows my name
Though I no longer answer it
Dust settles where I stood
Like it remembers what I did
No footsteps in the hall
No reason left to stay
I measure time in silence now
And silence doesn’t fade
What remains unsaid
Still takes its place
Between the breath
And what we face
I don’t deny
I don’t defend
Some things survive
Because they end
I stopped expecting signs
Or meaning in the sound
The world moves on without a pause
I’m not waiting to be found
The weight I carry isn’t loud
It doesn’t need a name
It only asks that I remain
Exactly what I am
What remains unsaid
Still takes its place
Between the breath
And what we face
I don’t deny
I don’t defend
Some things survive
Because they end
If there was more I could have done
I would have known by now
What’s left is only holding still
And letting time decide how
What remains unsaid
Still shapes the ground
I walk upon
Without a sound
No absolution
No pretend
Just what was lost
And what remains
